The Story

Jess Chan is a creative master of standards repertoire. A mix of the familiar and obscure, with emotion and clarity, she tells a story with every note. You may hear the nuances of Betty Carter, Ella Fitzgerald, Dinah Washington, Nancy Wilson, and Sarah Vaughan to name a few in her choice of repertoire and her phrasing.

A versatile musician, Jess has performed jazz, pop, and opera, internationally in the Philippines, New Zealand, and China, however her love for standards has constantly drawn her back to the back to the American song book. Supporting Jess will be some of her favourite musicians within Melbourne, Atienne Bakker (Guitar), Tamara Murphy (Bass), and James Mclean (Drums).

Come down and watch one of Melbourne’s up and coming vocalists explore the jazz canon with warmth, storytelling, and lots of swing.
