The Story

Neighbours living at the Walker Street public housing estate in Northcote, Melbourne are forced to relocate when it is scheduled for demolition.

Through two very different families, Things Will Be Different documents the impact this relocation has, while exploring the importance public housing plays in our communities. Focusing on the richness of the people, communities and support that can exist within public housing, director Lucie McMahon shows how life-altering circumstances can be thrust upon anybody and how public housing is essential to ensure that people in difficult circumstances can access safe and meaningful lives.

Please join us after the screening for a panel discussion with Steve Mintern from Office and Dr Priya Kunjan from RMIT's Global and Urban Studies.
