“This fictional tale collapses the internet, theater, the movie screen into a dystopian world where, with the creation of a world blurring online and offline, the three merge into a secret fourth thing.” – Forbes
“...a filthy and absurd midnight movie determined to fry brains and flip stomachs; a film so terminally online that even the milder scenes would, as the kids say, 'kill a Victorian child'.” – PopMatters
Shot on luminous 16mm with meme-font subtitles hardcoded throughout, director Peter Vack (Assholes, FFFA 2022; PVT Chat, FFFA 2021) reteams with Betsey Brown (Actors, FFFA 2022) for a film whose very form mirrors its subject: relentless, overstimulated and operating several layers deeper than its lurid surface suggests.
The titular Rachel Ormont has been raised in captivity inside an advertising agency, her entire sense of self shaped by commodity and perception. Her consuming obsession is Mommy 6.0 – a synthetic pop idol who may, or may not, be her actual mother. As Rachel’s parasocial fixation mutates and devours itself, the film careens through satirical psychodelia, body horror and dark comedy into genuinely uncharted territory.
Few films have the sheer audacity to turn the schizoid chaos of terminally online existence into a fully committed cinematic experience, but www.RachelOrmont.com does exactly that and more.
Not for the faint-hearted. Essential for everyone else. Guaranteed to split the room.
