Eia’s Christmas holiday is off to a disappointing start: both her parents have to travel for work so she is sent to stay on a farm in remote Southern-Estonia, surrounded by a forest and covered in snow. The 10-year-old soon befriends the farmer and the various friends and family who pass through Phantom Owl Forest. Before too long, Eia is involved in a campaign to stop an unscrupulous plan to log the forest, which will devastate the population of a rare species of owl. She also becomes tangled up in helping a young couple connect with each other, and even uncovers some family secrets of her own.
A sweet family drama about reconciliation, human connection and protecting the natural world.
Parental guidance: very mild impact themes concerning family tensions and references to alcoholism, very mild sense of threat.
