DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO MAKE A MOVIE IN JUST 48 HOURS?!

Taking place across more than 100 cities across the globe, the 48 Hour Film Project is returning to Melbourne for only one wild and sleepless weekend this September!

From September 20th-22nd, teams of local filmmakers were challenged to write, shoot, and edit an original short film all within an exhilarating 48 hours!

It doesn’t matter whether you’re a first time filmmaker or a certified pro – the project is open to filmmakers of all backgrounds and experience levels. Ultimately, we aim to provide a platform for you to showcase your creativity, experiment with new techniques in a low-risk setting, and collaborate with like-minded individuals, whilst providing you an opportunity to network with industry professionals and build a portfolio of work.

What’s more, all films submitted to the 2024 project will be screened at Lido Cinemas on October 16th and 17th. Catch an incredible showcase of short films – all written, shot, and edited in just 48 adrenaline-fueled hours! This special event will feature an encore screening of standout films, followed by an awards ceremony recognizing the top entries. The winning film of the Melbourne project will then go up against films from around the world at Filmapalooza 2025 for a chance at the grand prize and an opportunity to screen at the Cannes Film Festival Short Film Corner!

Screenings on Wednesday 16 & Thursday 17 October and awards screening on Sunday 27 October.
