LIDO ON THE ROOF

What is Lido on the Roof?

Lido Cinemas has a brand new Rooftop Cinema showing both commercial and new release art house films in the heart of Hawthorn’s bustling Glenferrie Road. Our exciting new cinema hosts special events and ensures audiences enjoy an intimate and specialised cinematic experience with films that cater for everyone. Possessing a vibrant atmosphere, Lido’s diverse program of films and events will appeal to the many different tastes of film aficionados in the local area of Hawthorn and of wider Melbourne.

What time does the rooftop open and the film start?

Doors open at 8.30pm, giving you time to settle in, enjoy our food and drink bar and the sunset, before the film starts. Screenings start after sundown, approximately 9pm.

How accessible is the Rooftop Cinema?

Our Rooftop Cinema is accessed via lift through the main cinema entrance, and is wheelchair accessible.

What are the seating arrangements?

The Rooftop Cinema seats 93 patrons in a variety of deckchairs and beanbags, and are not allocated. The seats are set out before each session and it is first come, first serve.

What to wear?

Unlike our eight screens inside, this cinema has no ceiling! This means you have a fantastic view, but also means that you need to rug up. This is Melbourne after all. You can BYO blankets and pillows and even your own headphones!

What if it rains?

We monitor the weather very closely leading up to a Rooftop screening. We may need to cancel a film in the case of bad weather, in which case we will do our best to post any cancellations on our website, Facebook and on Twitter at least one hour before the screening. A film may need to be cancelled during the session in the event of any unexpected, unpredicted bad weather. In this instance, patrons will be issued with a complimentary pass to be used within 12 months from date of issue. Cancellation is at the discretion of management and can be made prior to or during a screening. Sorry, cash refunds will not be available.
